MD Connected Grants Chromebook Information

Information

Howard Community College, in partnership with Howard County, is offering Pell Grant recipients and other eligible Maryland residents a free Chromebook through Maryland's Connected Devices grant. Eligible students can pick up the devices on campus using the scheduled pickup instructions below.
Please note  the Chromebook will not support all applications, such as Microsoft Office or Adobe Creative Cloud. It is compatible with web-based applications like Google Docs, Zoom, and Canvas.

How to schedule pickup

  1. Create a bookings appointment at Bookings - - Outlook (office365.com)
  2. Fill out the agreement form at Chromebook Acceptance Form HCC - Formstack
  3. At the time of pickup please bring your student ID or Maryland drivers license if you are not a student as well as a copy of your award notice/other eligibility to Duncan Hall 110 open lab - Map - Duncan Hall
  4. Once your form has been verified against eligibility documents brought with you to your appointment (See below) we will checkout the Chromebook with the state and provide it to you to keep.

Each Maryland family is eligible to receive one Chromebook through this program. A range of programs makes various individuals eligible. For more detailed information, please refer to the acceptance form.

Support for the Chromebook

Once you get home, please verify the Chromebook works and let us know within 3 days it doesn't so we can arrange to swap it with another Chromebook. After the initial 3 days if there are any issues you can contact HP for warranty service.

For assistance in setting up and using your Chromebook please contact Marylanders Online using the information on the flier provided with the device. They offer guides on it's use as well as both virtual and in person appointments at the University of Maryland campus.
